Last night I was reminded about the fact that we as the body of Christ are family. We do life together and we are there for each other. Recently one of the volunteers on my team asked for prayer for their spouse who was interviewing for a new job. They brought their needs before God and before the people they do life with here at Fellowship Church.

You might think that it is normal to bring things to God, but what purpose other than praying could there be for sharing our needs with others?  Let me offer this thought. Many times God uses the people around us to answer our prayers. You may need to read the sentence again and let it sink in.

Let’s jump back to my story again for a moment.  Last night as we were beginning our worship team practice one member brought me a check and asked that I give it to that same member of our team who had shared just a couple weeks ago about their needs.  Because the member in need shared their request God used those around her to answer her prayer.

So the next time you are with friends or attending your life group please remember this.  God uses those you do life with to answer prayer and often times to meet your needs.  So get out there and do life together!

The Greatest In The Kingdom

As I sit in my office this afternoon I am looking through scripture asking God to give me a word that I can share with my teams tonight.  One of things that artistic people daily struggle with is pride.  We are taught to practice and be the best.  I am not ashamed to admit that I feel that my calling involves me aiming to be the best worship leader in the world.  I want everything that Fellowship puts out on the stage to be excellent because I know that excellence inspires people and honors God.

Check these verses out in Matthew 18

1 About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?”

2 Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. 3 Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. 4 So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Humility!  That is the word God has for me today and for my teams.  God desires complete humility from us.  How does living a life of humility compare with the life you now live?  Are you serving others?  Jesus did?  He is the greatest and yet knelt down and washed the feet of his own disciples.

I pray that we never get too big for our britches!  God help us be humble servants!

The Power of Together

This week we as a team our asking God for big things. Currently we are short on volunteers for two environment teams. We have staffing needs for both our set up crew and our take down crew. We rely to heavily on the volunteers currently serving. If we don’t get some reinforcements we are going to completely burn our teams out. That would be a tragedy. We as a staff are specifically asking God to bring us 100 volunteers over the next couple weeks. We are also asking God to move 100 people to join a life group. There is a power of togetherness. We need your help!!

Saw this video today and thought it was so funny, but at the same time shows what we can do when we do it together.

The power of the resurrection

As I was running on the treadmill tonight after life group I was listening to the latest Hillsing Cd. A song came on that had these lyrics: “the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in Me”.
Sure I have heard that before but because of the Hostage series we are doing as well as the topic at our life group tonight, it seemed to hit home a little more.
Week one of our series dealt with the chains of addictions. We are so weighed down by them and we often think that we can never have victory over them. Do you realize that nothing is impossible with God? Do you really believe that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives inside you and can give you victory as well?
Take this promise from scripture and know that He who overcame can help you overcome as well! Believe It!

Community

This morning I met with a guy from church who has really been going through a rough time. My first thought was, “God, why would you want ME to meet with him when I am in a season of my own.” As we began to talk I realized some of the things I have been struggling with are the same things that he was going through as well. I referred him to a few of the things that are helping me with my struggles. The first place to start is with the Living Word of God.

On Monday I went out to a quite place and dug into scripture with all of my might. I was able to use those same passages that encouraged me to encourage him. It’s cool how God hooks us up with people who can encourage each other. That’s why community is so important within the body of Christ. The stronger brother can help lift the other brother up. We all have something that can add to the body of Christ. We just have to connect. It’s when we become disconnected that we easily get distracted from this race we are running. So connect! Someone needs what you have to offer!

PS. BABY UPDATE: No baby yet

Life Groups

images2.jpegTonight we had a great time with our life group.  Although it was only a few people it was one of the most powerful lessons we have done in quite a long time.  We are currently going through an Andy Stanley series entitled “The Best Question Ever”.   The question is “What is the wise thing for me to do in this situation given my past experiences, current circumstances, and future hopes and dreams?”  Tonight we tackled morality, specifically sexual morality.  One thing that stood out to me was the fact that people don’t just fall into sexual immorality.  They get there by a series of unwise choices.  It is then those choices that lead one to fall.   It is no wonder that King Solomon in the Old Testament when given a choice to have anything he wanted, chose wisdom.  Check out Ecclesiastes if you want more to read on wisdom and what matters in life.  I hope you are being challenged spiritually right now.  If you do not have a life group that you are a part of.  Please go find one right away.  You can sign up for one here.
