Greetings from Austin, Texas. Tonight we wrapped up an incredible week of worship. It seems like we just got here although it has been almost five days since we arrived. Last year I had the incredible experience of attending the National Worship Leader Conference which was held in Austin, Texas. This year I had the awesome privilege to bring two of my band guys, Nick McGowan and Donny Phillips. We have sat in classes ranging from leadership to songwriting. We have worshiped under guys like Don Moen, Lincoln Brewster, Chris Tomlin, Jonathan Butler, Rush of Fools, Daniel Doss Band, and many, many others. It has been unforgettable and I already can’t wait for next years conference which will be held in Kansas City, MO. I am excited to be able to make it back Saturday night in order to lead worship on Sunday.
I want to publicly thank my Pastor and friend John Cremeans for giving me this great opportunity to go to this conference every year. I am truly refreshed and my cup is full! See you all Sunday!
I want to pass along a great online Bible reading tool. It allows you to read scripture in practically any version, highlight passages, tag words/themes, and even journal about what you read. There is a Bible reading calendar which gives you a chapter from the old testament and the new testament to read. It’s good stuff. I want to give an example of how you can better study the Bible for personal application. Here is what I journaled as I read one of today’s passages. I do the same for all passages.
In verse 4 it said “David Inquired of the Lord”. Such a short and small statement in the chapter but I think it’s the foundation of everything David was about to do. He inquired, he sought, he asked, he talked; he wanted to know what God wanted him to do.
I want to do that, I want to be that.
In verse 7 Saul said “God has handed him over to me”. Isn’t it interesting Saul’s view of the situation. He believed that God was on his side. He did not “inquire of the Lord” and in return he still believed that what he was doing was of God. How many times do I do something believing that God wants me to do it, when I haven’t even inquired of the Lord.
If you can consistently read God’s word and find ways to apply it to your daily life, you will begin to grow as a Christ Follower. So get in the word, and don’t just read it. Apply it! Flesh it out, and make it pesonal!
